Eagle Edgeless 350 vs Eagle Edgeless 500

The same edgeless towel in two weights, eighty cents apart. GSM is published for both, which makes this one of the few genuinely clean comparisons in microfiber.

We have not tested any of this. Everything below is compiled from published manufacturer specifications, and the arithmetic is printed so you can check it. This page carries affiliate links: if you buy through one we earn a commission at no extra cost to you, and it does not change the order of the picks. Full disclosure.

Buy the Eagle Edgeless 500 at $19.20 for a four-pack if you are buying one towel for everything: 500gsm is the general-purpose weight. Buy the 350 at $18.40 for a five-pack for leveling coatings and residue work, where a lighter towel gives you more control.

What 150gsm actually changes

GSM is grams per square meter, and on a towel it is mostly pile depth. A 500gsm towel has more fiber standing up, so it holds more product and more residue before it starts smearing. A 350gsm towel has a shorter pile, so it glides with less drag and you can feel the panel through it.

Neither is better in the abstract. They are the same towel construction, edgeless and tag-free, in two weights, and the right one depends entirely on what you are wiping off.

Why lighter is right for coatings

Leveling a ceramic coating means removing a thin film of product at the exact moment it flashes, without dragging it back across the panel. A heavy plush towel grabs that residue and carries it, which is how streaks appear in the finish you just paid for.

At 350gsm you get control instead of capacity, which is the correct trade on that job. The five-pack matters too: coating work burns towels, and you want a clean face every panel. The coating towel roundup covers the class, and the application guide covers where in the process they get used.

Why 500 is the one to buy first

If you are buying one box of towels, 500gsm is the weight that does the most jobs adequately: buffing wax, wiping a quick detailer, interior work, glass with the right towel technique. It also comes in seven colors and two sizes, which sounds cosmetic until you are trying to keep interior towels away from wheel towels.

Color-coding is the cheapest mistake-prevention in detailing, and it is the practical reason the 500 leads here. The main towel roundup ranks the wider field, and tool maintenance covers washing them so they survive.

Who should buy which

  • Your first box of towels: Eagle Edgeless 500, $19.20 for four.
  • Leveling a ceramic coating: Eagle Edgeless 350, $18.40 for five.
  • You want the lowest cost per towel: the 350, at about $3.68 each.
  • You color-code by job: the 500, which comes in seven colors.
  • You need a bigger towel: the 500 in 16 by 24 inches, three to a pack.

Every pick, with the working

Each entry lists the specifications the maker publishes, the axis scores those specifications produce, and what you give up. Rows that read “Not published” are not omissions on our side: they are figures the maker will not commit to in writing, and they cost the product points on the transparency axis.

4.9/10

$19.20 for a four-pack of 16 by 16 inch towels at a published 500gsm, in seven colors and two sizes. 500gsm is the middle of this group and it is genuinely the general-purpose weight: plush enough to dry, controlled enough to buff.

What it does well

  • 500gsm published, the general-purpose weight
  • Seven colors, which is how you keep glass, paint and interior towels separate
  • 16x16 and 16x24 options

Who it is not for

  • $4.80 a towel is mid-market, not cheap
  • No blend split published
  • No published wash-cycle rating

Eagle Edgeless 350

The Rag Company

3.9/10

$18.40 for a five-pack of 16 by 16 inch towels at a published 350gsm. A lighter towel is the right towel for leveling a coating: heavy plush grabs residue and drags it, and 350 is where control starts.

What it does well

  • 350gsm published, and the lower weight is a feature rather than a compromise for this job
  • Five towels for $18.40, the best per-towel price in this group
  • Edgeless and tag-free, so there is no seam to drag across fresh coating

Who it is not for

  • Too light for drying a whole car
  • Only two colors
  • No blend split published

Questions people actually ask

+What GSM towel is best for ceramic coating removal?
A lighter towel gives more control over residue. The Eagle Edgeless 350 publishes 350gsm, against 500 for its heavier sibling.
+Is edgeless worth it?
An edgeless, tag-free towel removes the stitched border that is the usual culprit when a towel marks paint. Both of these are edgeless.
+How many towels do I need for one car?
More than most people own. A wash and protect session runs through six to twelve easily, which is why both of these are sold in packs.
