The Best Towel for Ceramic Coating Removal in 2026

Leveling is where a coating goes right or wrong, and the towel decides how much residue comes off. Adam's make the case for a low pile in writing: it lifts the residue without pulling the coating away with it.

Buy Adam’s Suede Microfiber Towel at $6.00: 16 by 16 inches, a published 195 GSM, and sold by name for ceramic coating removal. For a dual-pile towel at $3.00 each, The Rag Company’s Creature Edgeless is $30.00 for ten at a published 420gsm.

A folded microfiber towel on a freshly coated car panel

Two towels sold for coatings by name

Adam’s sell their suede towel for the precise removal of ceramic coatings. Their argument is about pile: an extremely low pile takes off the coating’s surface oils and residue without removing the coating itself, and they say it has given them better longevity, though they publish no figure. Obsessed Garage sell a dual-pile Creature towel for wax, sealant and coating removal, with a shorter side to break the residue down and a longer side for the final wipe.

Low pile or dual pile

These are two approaches, and the makers do not agree on one. Adam’s want as little pile as possible touching fresh coating. The dual-pile towels split the job: The Rag Company sell the Creature for polish, wax and sealant removal, with long fibers on one side and a tight weave on the other, at $3.00 a towel in the ten-pack. The microfiber roundup covers The Rag Company’s heavier Eagle Edgeless towels.

Fold, rotate, and keep them for paint

No maker here says how many towels a car takes. Obsessed Garage’s method is to fold each towel into quarters for several clean faces, rotate frequently to avoid buildup, and keep coating towels for paintwork only, so plan on more than one. How to apply a ceramic coating has the full sequence, and the applicator roundup covers the other half of the kit.

What to buy

  • Leveling and first removal: Adam's Suede Microfiber Towel, $6.00.
  • Removal and the final wipe with one towel: The Rag Company Creature Edgeless, $30.00 for ten.
  • Cheapest per towel: Obsessed Garage's Creature Edgeless 420 at $2.20, or The Rag Company's ten-pack at $3.00 a towel.

Every pick, with the working

Each entry lists the specifications the maker publishes, the axis scores those specifications produce, and what you give up. Rows that read “Not published” are not omissions on our side: they are figures the maker will not commit to in writing, and they cost the product points on the transparency axis.

+How many towels do I need to ceramic coat a car?
No maker here publishes a number. Obsessed Garage say to fold each towel into quarters and rotate frequently to avoid buildup, so plan on several.
