The Best Microfiber Towel for Polish Removal in 2026

Polish removal wants a towel with some bite. Obsessed Garage explain why: a towel that is too plush loads up with spent polish and smears it around instead of taking it off.

Buy Adam’s Polishing Microfiber Towels at $19.99 for six: 16 by 16 inches at a published 480 GSM, sold for removing polish and compound, about $3.33 a towel. For inspection before a coating, Gyeon’s PolishWipe EVO is $7.99 at a published 310 GSM.

Wiping a black car hood with a blue microfiber towel

Why not the plushest towel

Obsessed Garage keep their Edgeless 365 for polish removal because it has some bite: soft enough to be safe on paint, firm enough to pull residue off cleanly, and not so plush that it overloads. Gyeon make the same point with their BaldWipe, a low-pile towel they say removes polishing paste without leaving marks, and draw the line with their SoftWipe, which is thick and meant for coatings.

Keep them for polish

Obsessed Garage are strict about it: once a towel has been used for polish removal it is not used for anything else, and it stays apart from coating and general-purpose towels. Their method is to fold each towel into quarters, flip to a clean side often, and swap towels once they start loading up.

Inspection is part of the job

Gyeon sell the PolishWipe for inspection as well as removal, because polishing oils left on the panel can hide what the pad actually did. A panel prep spray strips them properly, and an inspection light shows what is left.

What to buy

  • Most people: Adam's Polishing Microfiber Towels, $19.99 for six.
  • Inspection before a coating: Gyeon PolishWipe EVO, $7.99.
  • Cheapest per towel: Obsessed Garage Edgeless 365, $2.20.
  • Low pile for paste: Gyeon BaldWipe EVO, $6.99.

Rows that read “Not published” are not omissions on our side: they are figures the maker will not commit to in writing, and they cost the product points on the transparency axis.
