What the content is

Editorial opinion and analysis built from published manufacturer specifications. Every figure on this site is cited to the document it came from, with the date it was retrieved, and the method is set out in full on how we research.

We have not tested, owned, used or measured any of the products described here, and no page should be read as though we had. Durability, hardness and performance figures are the manufacturers’ own claims, reported as claims.

No warranty

The content is provided as is. We take considerable care over accuracy and we cannot guarantee that every figure is current: manufacturers change formulas, revise specifications and discontinue products without notice. Verify anything that matters against the source we cite before relying on it.

Detailing carries real risk

• Paint correction permanently removes clear coat and cannot be undone.
• Sanding, aggressive compounds and rotary polishers can go through paint.
• This category includes alkaline and acidic chemicals that can damage finishes, trim and skin.
• Pressure washers can lift paint edges and force water past seals.
