One of these publishes its numbers
FLEX publish the speed range, three interchangeable heads, three backing plates, the battery specification and the tool weight. RUPES, through the retailer listing this site uses, publish that it is a mini random orbital sold as a kit and nothing else: no orbit, no motor rating, no speed range, no weight.
For $336.99 that is a lot of blanks. The counterweight is the system argument, and it is not a weak one: RUPES pads and compounds are designed around RUPES machines, and if your 15mm is already a BigFoot then the mini drops into a workflow that already works.
Three heads is a genuinely different tool
The PXE 80 changes character with the head fitted. Rotary for a stubborn defect in a tight corner, a 3mm orbit for delicate finishing on a pillar, a 12mm orbit for covering a bumper faster. That is three machines in a bag, and at 1.5 lb without a battery it is light enough to hold at odd angles for a whole panel.
One caution, and it is FLEX’s own: the same listing gives run time as up to 30 minutes in the description and up to 20 minutes in the technical data. This site records the shorter figure, because when a maker contradicts itself the conservative number is the honest one to plan around. Two batteries ship in the kit, which softens it either way.
Cord or battery, in the places these tools work
Mini polishers earn their keep in door shuts, around badges, on mirror caps and pillars, which are exactly the places a cord catches on something. Cordless is a real advantage there rather than a convenience, and 3 inches is the largest pad the FLEX takes, which suits the work.
