Obsessed Garage put it plainly: a loaded pad cuts worse and runs hotter. Cleaning one is a brush between panels, a soak after the job, or a washer if you polish for a living.

Why a clean pad matters
Obsessed Garage’s listing for the RUPES Air Jet says a loaded pad cuts worse, runs hotter and gives inconsistent results. Their Snappy Clean Boost listing adds the reason a rinse is not enough: polish and compound oils bond into the foam, so squeezing a pad under the tap leaves spent abrasive and carrier oil inside it. Shine Supply make the same point about wool, where packed compound gets ground straight back into the paint you are correcting.

Between panels, and after the job
These are two different jobs. During a correction you want the pad clear without taking it off the machine: Adam’s describe their brush for exactly that, RUPES’ air gun cleans the pad on the polisher, and Shine Supply’s spur is used between passes. After the job the pad needs washing, which is where the Chemical Guys liquid, the Lake Country powder and the washer come in.
Lake Country’s bucket method is the only complete set of directions here: soak the pads for a few minutes in water with one packet, agitate with a pad brush, rinse thoroughly and let them dry completely before storage. Chemical Guys publish no method at all for their cleaner, and sell a separate $9.99 conditioner that lubricates pads during use, because dry rubbing builds heat and wears pads early.
