The Best Glass Towel for Cars in 2026
Adam's put the most common cause of streaky glass in writing: a towel that has touched polish or wax will leach it onto the window. The fix is a towel kept for glass alone.

Keep glass towels for glass
Three of these listings say the same thing in different words. Adam’s warn that residue from a towel used for polishing or waxing will leach out and smear glass. Obsessed Garage keep their FTW towel for glass only. Shine Supply say that once a glass towel picks up wax or dressing, it will smear every window you touch.
| Towel | Price | GSM | Size | Faces and edge |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Rag Company Wrinkle | $18.00 for 3 | 500 | 16 x 16 in | Short nap and wrinkle texture |

Two faces, two jobs
Most of the better glass towels are two-sided: a textured face to cut the film and a smooth face to finish. Shine Supply publish the method with theirs, textured side first and smooth side to finish clear, and The Rag Company say their Premium towel works best slightly damp with water or cleaner. Adam’s Tough towel takes the idea furthest, with a foam-like backing that keeps it rigid for scrubbing bug residue off a windshield.
GSM, where anyone prints it
Only three makers here publish a weight. Autofiber print 900gsm in the GPT’s title, The Rag Company publish 500 GSM for the Wrinkle towel with a note that size and weight can vary slightly, and Shine Supply publish 350gsm along with a 70/30 polyester and polyamide blend. What GSM does and does not tell you has its own page.
Screens and tint
Adam’s MicroSilk is the towel written for the delicate jobs: navigation screens, tinted windows and the plastic lenses over gauge clusters that scratch easily. It is borderless, so there is no stitched edge to drag across a screen, and Adam’s say not to over-saturate it. Pair it with a screen-safe cleaner.
What to buy

- The heaviest published weight: Autofiber GPT, 900gsm, $25.00 for three.

- Bug residue on the windshield: Adam's Tough Glass Towel, $4.99.
Every pick, with the working
Each entry lists the specifications the maker publishes, the axis scores those specifications produce, and what you give up. Rows that read “Not published” are not omissions on our side: they are figures the maker will not commit to in writing, and they cost the product points on the transparency axis.

8Tint, PPF and anything that shows lint
Autofiber Smooth Glass Mini
Autofiber
Skip this one. It has no pile, which is why Autofiber sell it for tint and PPF installs where lint is the enemy, and at 8 by 8 inches it is small for a windshield. For everyday glass, The Rag Company's Wrinkle towel is 16 by 16 inches at a published 500 GSM.
$25.00 for fifty 8 by 8 inch lint-free towels at a published 260gsm with no pile. No pile is the specification: a pileless towel cannot leave lint, and lint on freshly installed tint is what makes an installer sigh.
