Nothing behind, or something
A coated car does not need its wash to protect it, and McKee’s N-914 is sold on leaving nothing: Obsessed Garage chose it because it leaves no film to change how a wax, sealant or coating beads. At the other end, Opti-Coat say their No Rinse leaves a layer of SiO2 and UV inhibitors with every wash. Koch-Chemie and Optimum sit between, with care components and polymers that they say will not disturb what is already on the paint.

Why some owners want nothing added
Obsessed Garage explain their reasoning on the McKee’s listing: they go round the car afterward with the drying aid or topper they prefer, so they want the wash to do one job and leave the rest alone. If that is how you work, the quick detailer for coatings roundup covers the topper.
The one written for coatings
Opti-Coat No Rinse is the only listing here engineered specifically for ceramic coated vehicles. Opti-Coat say a full car takes less than two gallons of water, one bucket and a sponge or mitt, and that the SiO2 and UV inhibitors it leaves help maintain gloss and protection. It is also the dearest per ounce, at $27.50 for 16oz.

Optimum’s No Rinse, the rinseless wash they launched in 2005 and now sell in its sixth version, states it is safe on ceramic coatings, PPF and matte paint and will not interfere with waxes, sealants or coatings. The Rag Company list the V6 concentrate at $19.99 for 32oz, and the rinseless wash roundup covers it in full.
