On Gyeon’s numbers, a second layer buys a third more time
36 months to 48 is twelve extra months, or a third more. A second layer does not double the life of a coating on any maker’s published figures, and Gyeon are the only maker on this site who publish enough to show it.
Gyeon publish consumption as 15 to 25ml per car without saying whether that is per layer, so the extra material a second layer costs has to be read from the box rather than from the listing.
Where layering stops working
Adam’s are explicit that layering their Advanced spray past three applications makes the extra coats redundant. It is the only published ceiling on this site, and it is worth taking at face value: a spray layer bonds to the one beneath it, and there is a point at which there is nothing left to add.
Coating plus topper is the layering most people should do
