Answer this first: a hose will not make cannon foam
A foam cannon relies on pressure-washer pressure to mix soap, water and air into the thick foam that clings to a vertical panel. A garden hose cannot drive that mixing, so a hose foam gun produces a wetter, thinner foam. That is physics rather than a product failing, and cannon vs gun covers what you lose.
What you keep is the point of pre-foaming at all: a lubricating layer that softens dirt before a mitt touches the paint. Thin foam still does that, just less of it.
Two ways to foam without a pressure washer
