Wheel cleaners, degreasers and coatings all end up on your hands. The gloves differ in thickness, grip and count, and only three of these four publish a thickness at all.

What the thickness numbers mean
Dextatron publish 5 mil in the palm and 6 mil at the fingertips, and say that makes them more than 50 percent thicker than standard disposable gloves, with three times the puncture resistance of latex. Obsessed Garage describe the SAS gloves as 7 mil, thicker than exam gloves but still flexible enough for detailed work. Gloveworks put 8 mil in the title, and then say in the specification table on the same page that thickness varies by size and batch.

Grip when everything is wet
Detailing gloves spend most of their life wet. Obsessed Garage chose the SAS gloves because the raised cube texture still grips when hands are wet or covered in chemicals. Gloveworks make the same argument for their raised diamond texture, which they say channels water, soap and chemicals away, and add a flock lining to absorb sweat on long polishing or washing sessions.
Black or orange
The makers argue opposite sides here. Dextatron sell black because it hides dirt, grease and grime. Gloveworks sell high-visibility orange because it shows dirt and chemical residue, so you notice before it spreads to the next surface you touch.
Price per glove
Dextatron’s box of 100 works out at about $0.26 a glove and Gloveworks’ box of 50 at about $0.38. The SAS listing does not give a count, so its price per glove cannot be worked out.
