A graphene coating is a ceramic coating with graphene oxide added to the resin, not a different kind of product. On published figures the graphene coatings here claim more durability - up to 3 years, and 9+ years - against 2 to 5 years and up to 3 for the conventional ones. None publishes a graphene percentage or a test against its own non-graphene equivalent.

What the graphene actually is

Graphene oxide is added to the silica resin. The silica still does what silica does: bonds to the clear coat, resists chemicals, sheds water. Every graphene maker claims advantages around water spotting and heat. None of them publishes comparative data - no test of the same coating with and without the additive - so those advantages are claims about a mechanism rather than measured differences.

The durability gap is a claims gap

The graphene side claims more on paper, and the spread is wide. 3D’s graphene coating claims up to three years, which is the same territory as the two conventional coatings here. Adam’s Advanced claims nine or more, which no conventional coating on this site approaches - and which nobody can verify inside a timeframe that would help a buyer.

Take the most restrained graphene claim and the most restrained ceramic claim and they land in the same place. The additive is not what separates them.

The one real measurement on each side

Adam’s publish a contact angle of 110 to 118 degrees for the Advanced coating, which is an instrument measurement of how hydrophobic the cured film is. CarPro publish 70% SiO2 at 99.9% purity, which is a statement of what is in the bottle. Both are real numbers. They measure different properties, and neither one tells you which coating lasts longer.

  • You want the modest, checkable claim: 3D graphene at up to 3 years, or CQUARTZ at 2 to 5.
  • You want a measured property rather than a claimed one: Adam's Advanced publishes a contact angle.
  • You want to size the bottle to your car: Gyeon publish consumption per car.
  • You want to know what is in the bottle: CarPro publish SiO2 content and purity.
