What to look for, and what nobody publishes
Start with the uncomfortable finding: of the waxes in this ledger, not one names single-stage paint, lacquer or older finishes on its product page. The compound makers do, which tells you it is a distinction the industry knows how to make when it wants to. So a page that claimed to rank waxes by single-stage safety would be inventing the basis for the ranking.
What can be compared honestly is what these makers do publish. Coverage, because a thin coat is the goal on old paint and a published spread tells you how far a bottle really goes. A durability range, because reapplying often is more handling of fragile paint than you want. Named chemistry, because "pure carnauba" without a percentage is a name rather than a fact. And removal effort, because on single-stage paint the wax that comes off easily is the wax that takes the least out of the finish.

Why Collinite leads on a classic
Collinite publish 4 to 7 months of weather protection and an average spread of 1,200 to 2,000 square feet from a 16 ounce bottle. On a car you wax twice a year rather than twice a month, a published range is worth more than a feel claim, and the coverage figure means a single bottle outlives most restorations.
