The Best Leather Brush for Car Seats in 2026
A soft brush lifts dirt out of the grain that a towel slides over. Horse hair is the usual choice, and McKee's 37 give the reason: it cleans leather and vinyl without scratching.

Why horse hair
McKee’s 37 describe their brush as thousands of densely packed natural horse hair fibers that clean leather and vinyl without scratching, and Gyeon sell theirs on the same gentle horse hair. The point of a brush over a towel is the grain: bristles get into it and lift the dirt a cloth wipes over.
| Brush | Price | Bristles | Size | Stated for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gyeon Q²M LeatherBrush | $6.99 | Horse hair | Not published | Leather |
| Natural Horse Hair Upholstery Brush | $12.99 | Natural horse hair | 6 x 2.5 x 2 in | Leather and vinyl |
| Colourlock Leather and Textile Brush | $8.99 | Not stated | 120 x 39 mm | Leather, Alcantara, textiles |
| Leather & Vinyl Upholstery Brush | $9.99 | Tightly packed; material not stated | Not published | Leather, vinyl, dye transfer |
| Wheel Woolies Carpet & Upholstery | $14.99 | Stout nylon | Not published | Carpet and upholstery |
Alcantara
Colourlock are the only maker here to name Alcantara: their brush cleans it and other textiles, they say, as long as the pressure is gentle. For the cleaner to use with it, the Alcantara cleaner roundup has the options.
Dye transfer
McKee’s 37’s Leather & Vinyl brush is the one sold for the hardest job on light seats: its tightly packed bristles, they say, are tough enough to lift dye transfer from blue jeans when paired with their Leather Shampoo. It also has a pointed tip for tight spots.

Every pick, with the working
Each entry lists the specifications the maker publishes, the axis scores those specifications produce, and what you give up. Rows that read “Not published” are not omissions on our side: they are figures the maker will not commit to in writing, and they cost the product points on the transparency axis.
