The Best Convertible Top Cleaner in 2026
A soft top needs cleaning and then re-proofing, and fabric and vinyl tops need different protectants. RaggTopp sell one of each, and they are the only maker here that publishes much about either.

Clean first, then protect
| Product | Price | For | Stated claims |
|---|---|---|---|
| RaggTopp Fabric & Vinyl Cleaner | $14.99 | Fabric and vinyl tops | Low pH, bleach-free; dirt, stains, light mildew; safe on paint, metal, plastic, rubber |
| RaggTopp Fabric Protectant | $26.99 | Fabric tops and stitching | Fluoropolymer; water and stain repellency; UV blockers; three light coats |
| RaggTopp Vinyl Protectant | $19.99 | Vinyl tops, seats and trim | BASF Tinuvin UV blockers; no silicone, oils or petroleum distillates |
| Chemical Guys Convertible Top Cleaner | $12.99 (16oz) | Fabric, vinyl and synthetic tops | Removes dirt and stains |
Fabric and vinyl need different protectants
RaggTopp split protection by material. The Fabric Protectant is a fluoropolymer that restores water and stain repellency and carries UV blockers, and RaggTopp say it covers the stitching too. The Vinyl Protectant uses BASF Tinuvin UV blockers against fading, cracking and hardening, with no silicone, oils or petroleum distillates. Buy the one that matches your top.
Around the top
The paint, glass and rubber next to a soft top get the overspray. RaggTopp say their cleaner will not streak or harm paint, metal, plastic or rubber, and that overspray from the Fabric Protectant will not harm paint or glass and wipes off with a microfiber towel. Chemical Guys’ listing does not address it.

Every pick, with the working
Each entry lists the specifications the maker publishes, the axis scores those specifications produce, and what you give up. Rows that read “Not published” are not omissions on our side: they are figures the maker will not commit to in writing, and they cost the product points on the transparency axis.

How this score was calculated
- Protection claimdropped

- Capabilitydropped
- No single published number decides capability in this category, so the axis is dropped rather than invented.
- Cost per ouncedropped
- Either the list price or the container size is unpublished, so the division cannot be done and the axis is dropped.
