The Best Rubber Floor Mat Cleaner in 2026
A shiny dressing on a floor mat makes it look new and puts a slick surface under the brake pedal. The products made for rubber mats all say the same thing first: no slippery finish.

Under a pedal, slippery is a safety problem
Every product here sold for rubber mats says it first. Adam’s cleaner leaves no slippery feel; their protectant dries to a finish they say is never slippery or greasy, even wet; and Chemical Guys describe Mat ReNew as the product made to restore mats without the greasy, slippery look. The same reasoning is behind keeping protectant off the pedals.
| Product | Price | Type | Non-slip statement | Silicone |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Adam's Rubber Mat & Liner Cleaner | $12.99 for 16 oz | Cleaner | No slippery feel | Silicone-free, stated |
| Chemical Guys Mat ReNew | $10.99 for 16 oz | Cleaner and protectant | Not greasy or slippery | Not stated |
| Adam's Rubber Mat & Liner Protectant | $16.99 for 16 oz | Protectant | Never slippery or greasy, even wet | Water-based acrylic |
| Turtle Wax FRESH Carpet & Mats | $8.00 for 18 fl oz | Carpet and mat cleaner | Not stated | Not stated |
One bottle or two
Chemical Guys put the cleaner and the protectant in one bottle for $10.99. Adam’s split them: the cleaner leaves a matte factory look, and the protectant, $16.99 more, adds a darkened satin finish from cross-linking acrylic polymers. Most mats only need the cleaner; the protectant is for mats you want to look new.
The method, including the dry time
Adam’s cleaner foams when agitated and can be used with water or sprayed and wiped. For the protectant they publish the full routine: spray a clean mat, let it soak for 3 to 5 minutes, level any pooling with a microfiber towel, and let it cure completely before the mat goes back in. A stiff brush speeds up the cleaning; Detail Factory rate their ProGrip tire brush for floor mats as well.
What to buy
- Most rubber mats: Adam's Rubber Mat & Liner Cleaner, $12.99, silicone-free and non-slip.

Every pick, with the working
Each entry lists the specifications the maker publishes, the axis scores those specifications produce, and what you give up. Rows that read “Not published” are not omissions on our side: they are figures the maker will not commit to in writing, and they cost the product points on the transparency axis.
