Why rubber, and why before the vacuum
Short pet hair works its way into carpet pile and seat fabric, and a vacuum nozzle passes straight over it. Hardness is the one number anyone publishes
Adam’s publish the durometer of both tools in their two-pack: 50A for the black tool, which they pitch at most fabrics and common carpet, and 80A for the red, for dense fabric with embedded hair. On the Shore A scale a higher number is a firmer rubber, so the pair is one soft tool and one firm one.
That matters because rubber firm enough for a tight-loop floor carpet can be too aggressive on a fabric seat, and rubber gentle enough for the seat slides over hair embedded in the floor. Nobody else here publishes a hardness, which leaves you choosing the Detail Factory tools by shape.
Metal-free is Detail Factory’s point
Detail Factory state that most rubber-bristle pet hair brushes are a thin piece of metal with rubber overmolded on it, and that their brush and rake are rigid and metal-free instead.
